Black Sand
I first heard of a ‘black sand beach’ from a friend who lives beside one. When my fabric supplier showed me this raw tasar fabric it was love at first sight. But, i needed something more. That was when i stumbled upon this lovely clamp shibori tasar fabric from 2up2down. With minimal embroidery in different colored thread of different thicknesses to echo the feel of the yarn the sandy tasar came to life. I love it for it’s minimalist appeal and all the things i see when i stare at the tie and dye. The collection is available exclusively at www.kye.aniika.com. All photographs by George Seemon.
This collection includes runners perfect for large dining tables. Use it as an art piece displaying it on a step ladder.

There is something for store in your living room as well. We love the finesse of the bright embroidery against the monochrome tones.

Inspired by the vintage arts and crafts of women chattering and keeping busy with colourful balls of cotton threads woven with a single needle into the most amazing mesh patterns. This thought is inspired from a knitting book used by a mother and daughter. Classic, not retro, it’s a much have!
